ParaSoft Corporation designs, develops, and markets development tools for C, C++, and Java programs. For over ten years, ParaSoft has been committed to developing cutting-edge technologies which streamline all phases of software development. The company's software helps developers and managers by improving software quality and reliability, simplifying development, expediting development and delivery, and cutting development costs. ParaSoft was founded in July 1987 by Caltech graduates; the founders were members of the research team that developed the world's first parallel computer at the California Institute of Technology. ParaSoft's first significant infusion of outside capital was from the SBIR program, when it was contracted by DoD to develop what has become the company's flagship product, Insure++. ParaSoft has three facilities in California as well as offices in Poland, France, Germany, and UK.
BMDO awarded ParaSoft five SBIR contracts between 1990 and 1996 to develop a range of tools that would automate the process of developing and testing software code and programs. ParaSoft's lead product, Insure++, is the most accurate tool for runtime C/C++ error detection on the market. Insure++ uses the advanced source code analysis technologies developed under the company's SBIR contract to precisely, thoroughly, and automatically detect and report errors in embedded source code. This debugging technology has enabled software producers to create new software in much less time, less expensively, and with greater product reliability. All of ParaSoft's commercial products-including Insure++, jtest!, and CodeWizard-have their roots in the technology developed with SBIR funding.
ParaSoft's current development tools are constantly being enhanced to make it easier and faster for users to find and eliminate the greatest number of errors possible. Tools such as Insure++, jtest!, and CodeWizard provide developers with a fast and easy way to improve software reliability and expedite the debugging and testing process. ParaSoft's customers include most commercial software developers (e.g. IBM, Lotus, Microsoft), many government agencies (e.g. Naval Research Lab, the IRS, U.S. Postal Service), and a great number of DoD prime contractors (e.g. Lockheed Martin, Hughes Aircraft, Boeing, Pratt-Whitney). Since its involvement with SBIR in 1990, the company's revenues have grown from $250,000 to over $7 million annually.
