Argon ST, Inc is a broadly diversified provider of high performance sensor systems designed to meet the needs of defense, homeland security, intelligence, and environmental users. They develop and manufacture communications intelligence software systems and a broad line of acoustic, communications, radar, electronic warfare, infrared and optical sensor products. Their systems and products collect and process signals and other information used in their customers' intelligence gathering, reconnaissance and surveillance activities. Argon ST is a Delaware corporation resulting from the merger of SenSyTech, Inc. and Argon Engineering Associates, Inc. Argon Engineering Associates, Inc. was founded in 1997. The SenSyTech and Argon merger became effective on September 29, 2004, thus creating Argon ST, Inc. and graduating them from the small business program. Argon ST's ticker symbol is "STST" and common stock is traded on the Nasdaq National stock exchange.
Argon Engineering Associates, of Fairfax, Virginia, under the Navy SBIR Program, redesigned the surface Navy's scalable and adaptable COTS architecture for the Naval Electronic Combat Surveillance Systems program.
The shipboard Cryptologic application has previously been approached through hardware integration of separate stovepipe capabilities. The stovepipe approach made it difficult to add new capabilities without making major changes to system hardware and software. This new approach relegates most enhancements to affordable modifications of the system software. Regular advances in the underlying commercial general purpose cards/processors will provide the "headroom" for adding new IW capabilities without impacting system size or reprocurement cost. The underlying commercial infrastructure will also enable the system to keep pace with the regular changes planned for Navy Information Technology (IT) equipment and consistent with the Navy thrust for network centric operations.
