Conversion InformationTopics data is available on this site for searching only after it has been converted from the format in which it is submitted by each agency (MS Word WordPerfect, etc.). While the information provided by each agency is essentially the same, there are formatting differences. To place the data in a database, certain "conforming" rules were applied. This page explains some of those rules and should help those of you familiar with a particular agency's format, to know where to locate specific portions of data.SpecificsHeadings labeled Category, Technology Area, or any variation of these headings, are included in the Research & Technology Areas field of the database.Headings labeled Commercial Potential or any variation thereof, are included in the Description field of the database. Some agencies placed a space between the agency acronym and the remainder of the topic number. This space has been removed in the database. Do not include any spaces when searching on topic number.
